The WB was still trying to find its identity in its first full year on the air; Having added a Sunday & Monday night, there was more room to experiment. Luckily, TV Super-Producer Aaron Spelling came in with guns blazing, hoping that a soapy drama about the deep south might be the key to the network's success........................It wasn't; but for many who worked at the network, "Savannah" was seen as a "Point of No Return"; that maybe the network should focus on Youthful Drama instead of copycatting UPN's Urban Comedy approach.
