Fire involving Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC or GRV in French) have dramatical consequences to both property, health and environment. This fire occurred in Brazil in 2019. The cause of the fire is obvious: transfer operations, static electricity issues, wrong transfer pumps used, gravitational transfer unsafe etc.
IBC filled with ignitable liquids have dramatically contributed to the fire. The facility was producing paints and resins.
By chance, the fire did not spread to other areas, the fire brigade (11 trucks) has been very reactive, there was some segregation walls, there was some spill containment in the room (for the entire area of the room) and in the end the overall number of IBC was below 30.
