Makita's 18-volt LXT Sub-Compact tools ushered in a new cordless category. The Makita Sub-Compact combines 12-volt handling with 18-volt performance and is compatible with the world's largest 18-volt cordless tool system. The XSH04ZB is designed for cutting and ripping applications, making it suitable for contractors looking for a more compact cutting option for framing, roofing, formwork, and other applications.
What makes this product a smarter choice?
Number 1. At under ten and five-eight inches (10-5/8") and 6.4 pounds, the Sub-Compact 6 1/2 inch Circular Saw boasts a compact and ergonomic design (with 18 volts LXT Compact 2.0 Ah battery, battery, and charger sold separately). The Makita brushless motor, paired with the compact size, produces up to 5,000 RPM and a great power-to-weight ratio. Makita's Automatic Speed Change technology, which adjusts cutting speed and torque under load for maximum cutting performance, is built into the saw.
Number 2. The brushless motor is electronically controlled to provide up to 50% more run time than non-brushless motors, and the XSH04 made up to 350 cross-cuts per charge in 2x4 SPF lumber using one 2.0 Ah battery in run-time tests (sold separately). Users can load up a high amp-hour 18 volts LXT battery (all available separately) for a longer run duration, such as 2.0 Ah (BL1820B), 3.0 Ah (BL1830B), 4.0 Ah (BL1840B), 5.0 Ah (BL1850B), or 6.0 Ah (BL1850B) (BL1860B).

Dual LED lights, an electronic brake, a built-in tether notch (tether supplied separately), and Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) for better dust and water resistance in difficult construction site circumstances are all added convenience features. The rear dust port conveniently connects to a vacuum system for increased dust extraction (dust extraction accessories sold separately). Makita's 18 volts LXT system, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18 volt Lithium-Ion batteries, now includes it.

Makita developed Star Protection Computer Controls to increase tool performance and extend battery life. Makita 18 volts LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside can also be used to power the tool for more versatility.
