HOW TO MAKE YERBA MATÉ...

1. Buy yerba maté and a bombilla.

• I purchase my maté from Amazon, and I purchase my bombillas from a site called "Go Yerba Mate"

• I recommend the brand "Rosamonte Especial". Just google it, or search on Amazon. You can get 1 kilo if you plan on drinking a lot, or 500g is enough to start you off (will last a few months).

2. Heat up water as to where bubbles start to form.

• do not boil the water.

3. Pour water of yerba maté and wait 3-10 minutes, depending on how hot you like your maté.

4. Add sweetener if too "earthy".

• I'm sure most "real" maté drinkers will think this is absurd, but since there are people who have a hard time understanding/learning what real things from the earth taste like, you can add a little honey or agave nectar to start you off.

======= History of Yerba Maté =======

Yerba maté is a drink that has been around for hundreds of years.

It was originally cultivated by the Guaraní of South America.

They considered yerba tree a gift from the gods and soon began referring to the tea it made as a "drink of the gods."

When the Spanish came into Argentina in the early 1500s they learned how to brew and harvest it, as well as germinate the yerba seens.

======= Yerba Maté Today =======

Yerba maté is the national (and primary) drank in Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina.

Is it also drank Brazil, Peru, and Chile.

Because of it's health benefits and "mental clarity/energy", it is now common to also see it in the U.S. and in Europe.

======= Health Benefits of Yerba Maté =======

Yerba maté provides a clear and calm mental focus in my experience.

It's known to provide energy to both the mind and the body, while increasing memory and perception.

Maté contains over 200 nutrients.

It decreases fatigue, helps with weight loss, it is a slow purgative (helps you go to the bathroom), a diuretic (helps urination and flushing of the system), it stimulates the central nervous system, it may prevent cavities, it's a strong antioxidant (has more than green tea), and many other beneficial qualities.

Indigenous people have been cultivation yerba for hundreds of years. They know what's up.
