In the drywall finishing phase of our off-grid home build, we faced the hardest decision yet — push through and aim for smooth walls ready for paint, or take the shortcut and cover everything with textured paint?
We made our choice early: if others can do it, so can we. We went all in — fill coat mudding and sanding day after day with zero prior experience, no guarantees, just effort. Halfway through we discovered blisters on multiple walls — we cut, sanded, filled, and kept going.
In between — homemade chicken wings, hammock evenings, and a bike ride through nature. 🍗🚲

في مرحلة تشطيب الجبص (drywall finishing)، وصلنا لأصعب قرار في البناء — هل نكمل بالطريق الصعب ونحاول نوصل لحيطان ناعمة جاهزة للدهان، ولا نختصر الطريق ونخبي كل شي بدهان نقشة (textured paint)؟
قلنا من البداية — إذا غيرنا قدر، نحن كمان رح نقدر. فرحنا كلياً بطبقة المليان (fill coat)، معجنة وحف (mudding and sanding) يوم بعد يوم بدون خبرة مسبقة. الشغل صعب، متكرر، وما في ضمان بالنتيجة. بس في نص الأسبوع اكتشفنا بثرات على الحيطان — رجعنا، قطعنا، ملينا، وكملنا.
وبين كل هذا — جناح دجاج على الجمر، جلسة على الهامك، وجولة بالدراجة وسط الطبيعة. 🍗🚲
