Every Satanic Metal Act Explained (in 20 Minutes)
Heavy metal and Satan have been tangled together since the very beginning, but "satanic metal" was never one thing. This video traces every major satanic metal band in history, in the order they appeared, from Black Sabbath's accidental occultism to Watain's literal Satanism to the real blood spilled in the Norwegian black metal scene.
We go band by band through the full evolution of satanism in metal: Black Sabbath, Coven, Venom, Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, Slayer, Possessed, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Behemoth, Watain, Ghost, and Dissection.
Some of these bands were pure theater, shock tactics built to sell records and scare parents. Others were genuine practicing Satanists who built their entire careers around a real belief system. And a few crossed a line that theater never could, into real violence, real prison sentences, and real death. This is the difference between an image and a religion, and why that difference matters more than most metal fans realize.
