How To Copy Automation Curves - Creating Tracks

If you've ever spent a ton of time dialing the perfect set of automation curves for the modulation of a synth or effect, then you probably understand the desire to be able to copy large chunks of automation curves to another location all at once. Although this is possible, many people assume that it is not because most DAWs don't exactly make the option a glaring one. To copy automation curves in most DAWs, you simply need to select the desired section in your arrangement window using a marquee tool.
By default, in most DAWs, the secondary tool is usually set to the marquee tool so it's not something you should have much trouble finding. In Logic Pro, you can also use the aptly named Automation Curve Select tool, too. Other DAWs have similar options. But the marquee tool is a pretty universal tool and is largely capable of accomplishing the same tasks and functions from one program to the next.
Copy and paste is not the only way to use this idea in your projects though. In fact, if you copy automation curves in a project, you can just as easily paste it into a space that already has preexisting curves present. This forces a change to occur and, if you're feeling experimental, you may discover some interesting new ways to modulate some parameters or otherwise use a synth, instrument or effect.
