“Rosa Mystica”
by Chrysogonus Waddell, OCSO
performed by the Notre Dame Folk Choir (2024)
Yesterday, we had the profound privilege of singing from a repertoire of our favorite Marian songs at the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art. Since it’s a Folk Choir classic, here we’re performing “Rosa Mystica,” a tribute to the Blessed Mother inspired by medieval devotional texts.
Special thanks to @raclinmurphymuseum for an incredibly warm welcome, generous support, and spectacular acoustics!
Fun fact: A 1996 rendition of this song by the Notre Dame Folk Choir accompanies the final scene in the 2017 coming-of-age film “Lady Bird,” directed by Greta Gerwig and nominated for five Academy Awards.
