A 2 Minute Tutorial on our 2D viewer and the tools that can be used with it!
Hi this is Victor with PixElement, and this is Pixelement’s 2 Minute Tutorial.
Today we will be going over the 2D viewer. Let’s get started!
To access the 2D viewer, go to your project and on the lower left you will see the 2D viewer tab. Click that.
The 2D viewer allows you to view three data products. The Orthoimage, the DEM and the GCPs in their respective positions.
In the bottom right hand corner of the viewing window, there is a box where you can cycle through the orthoimage, DEM, and the GCPs.
To change what you are viewing, check or uncheck the boxes you wish to view
To view the ortho, uncheck the DEM.
The GCPs will show up through all layers unless unchecked
Another feature of our 2D viewer is the timeline function.
To activate more than one orthoimage, click on the timeline to activate the dates you wish to compare.
The timeline can have many site visits, however, only two may be compared at once.
There are several tools you can use in conjunction with your 2D maps. Let’s go through them.
The first feature we are going to talk about is the line measurement tool. This tool is very easy to use.
Simply left click two or more points for a straight line or a polyline, and right click when you have made your final selection.
The software will display the distance between the points you have set, as well as the overall distance in the bottom left corner of the viewing window.
The measurements are displayed in meters, feet and yards.
The next feature we can go over is the polygonal area tool.
Select the tool on the top right, and left click points on the map to create an area you want to measure.
Right click to finalize your selection and the values will be displayed on the bottom left, as with the previous tool
The values are displayed in square meters, feet and yards.
The last function we will go over in this video is the polygonal volume tool.
This tool allows you to lasso areas and see their cut, fill and total volumes.
Select the tool from the top right toolbar, and left click around the the feature you wish to measure.
Right click when you are finished, and your totals will appear on the bottom left of the viewing window.
The values are in cubic meters, feet and yards.
To download your data, click on output products on the left under your project, and from there you can hit download in either the Digital Elevation Model, or the Orthoimage bars.
Your files can be downloaded in multiple formats for use in a wide variety of programs.
