Are Print In Place Models a Gimmick?
Are print-in-place models useful or a gimmick?

In this situation, where I need to print 50 of these sculptures, using a print-in-place design really saved me a bunch of time. The arm section would traditionally be made up of at least 15 different parts. I was able to redesign this into a single part assembly that comes off the 3d printer already fully assembled. This saved me tons of time in keeping track of the parts and assembly, making it an incredibly viable use for this method of design.
