In this Excel video, you'll learn how to use the LOOKUP function to find and display the latest price of a product based on its SKU.
Imagine you have a list of products with their SKUs and retail prices, and you want to find the price of a specific product.
The LOOKUP function helps you do this. It works by checking the SKUs and prices in a sorted list.
When you use the formula =LOOKUP(2,1/(sku_299 =G4),retailprice_299), it searches for the SKU you're interested in, like SKU 1013. It compares this SKU with the list and creates a special list of 1s and errors.
By searching for the value 2, which isn't there, the function lands on the last 1 in the list and retrieves the corresponding price, in this case, 27.
This method uses the properties of the LOOKUP function and how it handles sorted data to get the right price.
