I replaced my normal curtains with a custom Kincmo smart motorized roller shade, and in this video I test if smart shades actually make sense in a real smart home.

In this video I install the Kincmo motorized roller shade, test the blackout fabric, privacy, motor noise, smart home control, Matter support, Apple Home, Homey, and Home Assistant integration. I also show some simple automation ideas, like closing the shade automatically when it gets dark outside or using it as part of a movie/football scene.
