As we prepare for the world premiere of Cathy Marston’s Summer and Smoke, we sat down with the renowned choreographer to discuss her creation process in transforming the popular Tennessee Williams play of the same name into a narrative one-act ballet. Through modern choreography and a living portrayal of the iconic angel fountain, Marston’s characters offer the story from their perspective, in a way that can only be communicated through dance.
