Inhabiting the rainforests of Australia, the Gympie-Gympie is notorious for its excruciatingly painful and long-lasting effects. No wonder it's earned the infamous nickname of the "suicide plant."
The stinging hairs of this plant contain a potent neurotoxin that induces extreme pain upon contact with the skin. Even the slightest touch or breeze can trigger these microscopic needles to penetrate the skin. What's more, the venom is so powerful that it can affect not only humans but also animals.
Attempting to remove the plant's stinging hairs with tweezers is not a viable option because the hairs are incredibly fine and densely packed.
One effective solution involves removing the stinging hairs all at once using hot wax. However, be cautious not to break the stingers that are stuck in your skin, as doing so could lead to years of pain.
