Compressed Natural Gas Pressure Release Device Animation.
A PRD (Pressure Release Device) is a safety device that releases the compressed natural gas through a vent pipe when the heat activated trigger reaches between 216-255 degrees Fahrenheit.
This device shown is a CG-10 type, a fusible trigger device that uses a fusible metal alloy to trigger the pressure relief mechanism on the device. These devices should activate within 90 seconds and should not be used for service pressures exceeding 13,100 psig (90,300 kPa). This video is intended to illustrate how the majority of the heat activated Pressure Release Devices work in today's CNG vehicles.
