How To Sample In Logic Pro X
How to Chop samples up in Logic Pro. Let's get to work. So, you're thinking about using samples in your music but you're not sure how to incorporate it into your logic pro workflow. It's so simple, you're gonna kick yourself for not figuring it out. Let's take a look. In this case, I'm going to show you how I took this sample...and chopped it up to make this remix.

So you're going to open logic into a new session. It helps if you know the BPM of the original sample, but it's not completely necessary. If you don't know it, you can simply just Google it. So in my case, this original sample is 77 beats per minute. So back in the logic pro, my BPM goes down to 77. Now I'm not going to keep my remix at this same tempo. I'm going to speed it up a little bit, but it's super simple. It's a click of a button. I'm going to show you how. So one way to do this is before you put your sample and get the sample's BPM inside of your session. You'll take the sample you want to use and just drag it into an audio track. Now to help speed up this process and speed up the sample, you're just going to hit this flextime button up here and make sure it's activated on the track. It will analyze the track and put transients inside of there in other words, places where it thinks you would want to cut it and that also helps the computer know where to time stretch the clip. So now that I have flex time on the transients are set inside of the clip, I can change that BPM to whatever I want and everything will flex to keep it going in time. So this is the original...but I want mine to be at 90. All right, so now I got that sample. I'm just gonna chop. I like to chop the samples the old-fashioned way and just literally cut the clip where I want it to be cut. You don't have to do it that way. You can actually zoom in by clicking where you want the sample to begin and end it puts a transient marker and then you can right-click and then slice the transient markers. I like to be a little bit more precise with them. So actually zoom in on the clip and cut where I want it to be cut so quick and easy. Now I have the section of the song I want to sample I'm going to pull this all the way to the left to start. Let me just put some drums in here...A little off but that's okay, I'm gonna chop the sample up to make it on beat. So here's the magic moment guys. You're going to take the clip that you want to chop and pull it down to the left you'll see this menu option.
I like to just use the quick sample original but you can mess around with all these different settings if you want. Now I have the sample in this quick sampler and I can old-school speeded up now I can just manipulate it how I want kind of funky not really what I'm looking for. I'm not that old-fashioned boom-bat type of beat. Once you have this quick sampler open, you can mess with all these different parameters.
