Ruger SFAR Review by Nutnfancy
This review has changed and it's updated here in test: Initially we were quite excited to see this lightweight AR10 from Ruger. I have been requesting this for quite some time in TNP. Most AR10s will be 9lbs+ with glass. We initially were mostly impressed with the SFAR; see the video for details. Some jams happened but we gave the SFAR the benefit of the doubt. Further testing showed the SFAR to be unpredictably unreliable with even high quality brass ammo. It is no longer a rec'd AR10 platform; a change from what is said in this video. In Run N Gun action in dusty conditions we found we could not rely upon a lubricated SFAR to get it done. Stick with Palmetto AR10s though heavier https://bit.ly/3PoQ69Z
Update Aug 2023: We have had jamming problems with BRASS ammo in extended testing with our SFAR. It is unpredictable and the jams required a cleaning rod to extract stuck cases. I would no longer add a SFAR to my system.
