Blue tangs became highly famous with the release of Finding Nemo . These rather rare wild fish go by various names, including palette surgeonfish, regal blue tangs, blue surgeonfish, and more! Blue tangs migrate in loose groups and live on Indo-Pacific coral reefs. They keep a reef environment healthy by consuming algae that would otherwise choke out corals and sponges. Blue tangs are spread spawners, and their larvae develop before the heart even starts beating!
