In this tutorial you will see the steps for adding a timeline to a pivot table in Excel, and then using it to filter the data.
You can filter your Pivot Table with Slicers and Timelines and have the applied filters visually displayed.
A timeline is just like a slicer, the difference is that the timeline only filters dates.
This video is about filtering excel data with timelines, but I have another video where I explain how to add a slicer to your Pivot Table.
(Link bellow 👇 )
• How to use a Slicer in a Pivot Table ...
Instead of adjusting filters to show dates, you can use a PivotTable Timeline, which allows you to easily filter by date/time, and zoom in on the period you want with a slider control.
With a default filter option it’s very hard to filter with months, quarters and years if you have simple dates, but with a timeline filter you don’t need to open the filter, again and again, you just do it with a single click.
At the end of this video, you will have a timeline filter in your worksheet and you will have the possibility to filter your pivot table with this.
