This is a short introduction to the thinking behind the architecture for the home printing system I'm developing. Time taken now to think about those secondary requirements, about component reuse, and sometimes competing issues (which can be social in nature) such as skills, and costs, can have massive impacts on the long term enjoyment of working on a system, as opposed to it being a chore.
This tutorial is the start of a series of short videos about system engineering and architecture, which I think are under stated in the profession - there is a lot of focus on computer science, and a lot of focus on application architecture, but in a lot of businesses not enough focus on systems.
