Muslims facing difficult times recite many prayers and verses to seek God's help and draw closer to Him. The prayers and verses they recite not only help them spiritually but also serve as a supplication to God and His guidance.
Surah Al-Fath is a surah with numerous virtues, recited by every Muslim, seeing it as a salvation in difficult times. Its opening verses explain the reason for its revelation: "We have granted you a clear victory, that God may forgive you all your past and future sins, and grant you His full favor, and guide you on the straight path, and that God may help you mightily." (Al-Fath 48:1-3)
When was Surah Al-Fath revealed? Surah Al-Fath was revealed to Muslims after the Hijra and is filled with glad tidings. It was revealed for Muslims who had gone to Mecca but had to return before completing their Umrah, bringing them the message of victory. As with every surah, the revelation of this surah brought joy to the people, their embrace of Islam was firmly established, and their hearts were filled with relief. While Surah Al-Fath brings good news for Muslims, it undoubtedly foretold a punishment for those who did not participate in this conquest. Surah Al-Fath holds many secrets and virtues within itself.
The Place of Surah Al-Fath in the Quran: Surah Al-Fath begins on page five hundred and ten of the Quran and spans four pages. It contains twenty-nine verses. It consists of five hundred and sixty words and two thousand four hundred and thirty-three letters. It is the forty-eighth surah. Surah Al-Fath takes its name from the word "conquest" in the first, eighteenth, and twenty-seventh verses. It was revealed after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.
The Virtues of Surah Al-Fath: Surah Al-Fath came as good news to the Islamic world. It holds many virtues for those who recite it. The Prophet Muhammad said in a hadith regarding Surah Al-Fath: "Tonight a surah has been revealed to me that is better for me than the world and everything in it." (Sahih Bukhari)
Some of the virtues of Surah Al-Fath are as follows: Anyone who recites this Surah seven times will have all their troubles resolved and will attain happiness. Those in prison who recite this Surah thirty-three times will be released from prison. Anyone who recites this Surah in distress, trouble, grief, or depression will have all their troubles and sorrows removed from them by God. If someone has a desired task and recites this Surah forty-one times in three, five, or seven days, that task will be resolved. If those facing financial difficulties recite this Surah, God will alleviate their difficulties.
A person who recites the first three verses of Surah Al-Fath with the Basmala will have good fortune, their affairs will improve, and they will attain great blessings. A person who recites the twenty-ninth verse of Surah Al-Fath will attain great wealth in the hereafter and will not suffer material or spiritual hardship in this worldly life. Anyone who wears this verse twenty-ninth as an amulet will be protected from all visible and invisible accidents and calamities. No misfortune will befall the wearer of the amulet. A person who recites this Surah three times upon seeing the first crescent moon in Ramadan will not face financial hardship. God will provide sustenance for that person for a year, until that day of Ramadan the following year.
Reciting this Surah grants victory to a soldier, country, or community in battle. Reciting it a thousand and one times brings victory to the army. Surah Al-Fath hung on a doorstep of a trader brings abundant profits. For a girl whose fortune is blocked, if written on clean paper with saffron and musk and hung in a windy place, it will bring her good fortune. Whoever recites Surah Al-Fath three times upon seeing the crescent moon of Ramadan, God Almighty will abundantly grant that person sustenance until the same day next year and will not face financial hardship. Whoever recites this Surah seven times will resolve all their difficulties and achieve all their wishes. Whoever recites Surah Al-Fath 33 times will be released from prison. If someone recites this Surah 41 times in three, five, or seven days for a task they desire, it will be resolved, God willing. If someone in distress or distress...
