Simon is a 5 year old male Moluccan Cockatoo who resides here at Miss Vicki's Parrot Village, near Atlanta, Georgia. This is a mild vocalization, and it is entirely normal for a male of this age to communicate in this way several times per day.
Unlike the quite, sweet, and docile baby Moluccan Cockatoos a person may find in a pet store or bird fair, Simon is showing you what a sexually mature Moluccan can sound like. Most Moluccan Cockatoos are given up by the age of 4 and are passed from home to home for the remainder of their lives. Worse yet, they are pushed into a back room of a home or a garage to languish alone or sent to breeders to be forced to create more Moluccans. The cycle repeats as they are sold to unsuspecting, well-meaning people, but this does not change the outcome of their story.
