Team Fortress 2 is a 2007 multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to the 1996 Team Fortress mod for Quake and its 1999 remake, Team Fortress Classic.
This is a complete listing of all achievements available in Team Fortress 2. There are currently 520 total achievements (479, excluding Milestones). For all statistics related to achievements, see TF2 statistics on Steam.
Achievements are in-game challenges and goals that allow players to be rewarded for specific actions while playing. Many achievements encourage players to learn particular TF2 gameplay techniques (e.g., Jumping), try new weapons (e.g., Backscatter), or try new maps (e.g., Process). There are sets of general achievements, achievements for each class, achievements introduced in some Halloween Events, a single Christmas achievement, achievements associated with particular maps (Doomsday, Foundry, Process, Standin, Snakewater, and Powerhouse) or Game Modes (Mann vs. Machine and PASS Time), and achievements related to the Replay feature (TF2 In-Game Moviemaker).
When a player completes an achievement, a trophy image briefly appears over their head. An applause sound plays as the accomplishment is announced to all players in the server through the TF2 chat, except a Cloaked or Disguised Spy. When a player obtains a certain amount of achievements in a Class set, they additionally unlock a Milestone achievement that rewards them with an untradable achievement weapon.
Almost all achievements can be completed at any time in the game. The exceptions to this are a few achievements from the Halloween and Winter sets that require Event mechanisms rather than Holiday map functions. Additionally, Replay achievements that require Youtube views of uploaded Replays no longer function and now cannot be completed as intended.
Achievements cannot be earned in servers with the sv_cheats cvar set to 1.As a means of encouraging players to explore features of Team Fortress 2, achievements were supplemented by Contracts in the 2015 Gun Mettle Update.
