Turbulence and CRAZY Crosswind!!
First big trip following our annual inspection. I depart Chicago Aurora Airport (ARR) on an IFR flight plan to Rough River State Park, Kentucky (2I3). Chicago Approach did a great job getting us up quickly to the smooth air and on course. I was able to easily configure the Avidyne IFD550 to my liking and then experienced some pretty strong turbulence on descent into Rough River. There is no weather reporting there so I circled the airport to check out the wind sock which was showing about a 25-30 knot direct crossing for runway 02. Made for a very exciting landing!
