What is Self-Leveling Concrete?
Self-leveling concrete is basically an extremely wet concrete mix that, when placed, levels itself because of the high viscosity properties. But this very watery mixture is not achieved by using a lot of water in the concrete mix.
Instead, it is a heavily modified concrete mix recipe that uses admixtures such as water reducer and super plasticizers to add viscosity but not compromise the finished strength of the concrete. Too much water in the mix however will ensure that the concrete fails early.
Self-leveling concrete does not require the placement process like regular concrete does, like troweling and smoothing. The leveling abilities of this highly modified concrete makes it ideal for projects such as flooring.
