LACP, or Link Aggregation Control Protocol, is the standards-based protocol switches use to negotiate and maintain EtherChannel bundles. In this video, we explain how LACP works, what LACPDU messages are, the difference between active and passive mode, why passive-passive does not form a bundle, and how LACP helps switches safely create a Port-Channel.

We also compare LACP with static EtherChannel, explain common configuration mistakes, and show why LACP is commonly preferred in modern networks.
