The original PHC yielded remarkable algorithms and notably the pillar of password protection: Argon2. By no means am I suggesting phasing them out anytime soon, but 9 years later I would like to organise a new competition that brings together the very interesting ideas and challenges that have emerged since then. Not being a cryptographer myself, I will present my layman's attempts in a self-deprecating and educational manner to get the ball rolling.

Sebastien is a lifelong learner with over 25 years of security obsession: he grew up programming on a 286 and fell into hacking as a teenager when the brand-new Windows 95 family computer always BSOD'd mere minutes after his parents left for the mall and thus unfairly deprived him of his only-on-Saturday-afternoons allowance as there was no one to enter the BIOS password required at (re)boot.
Better known under pseudonym and/or NDA, Sebastien has so far only spoken overtly at PasswordsCon but looks forward to giving more back to the community notably with the concomitant launch of a new Password Hashing Competition this November 2021 at both PasswordsCon and HITB+CyberWeek.
