How to Change Navigation Settings When on Your BMW Motorcycle
Learn in this video how to change your navigation settings on your BMW motorcycle.
After having planned a nice route with the BMW Motorrad Connected app, it’s time to continue on the bike. Please keep in mind to not lock your screen or turn off the device when Map mode is active and you are stowing away your smartphone. With the optional equipment ‘Enhanced telephony with extended smartphone connectivity’, you’ll get an additional storage compartment on the right side which features a wireless induction charging pad and has a USB port to make sure your smartphone doesn’t run out of battery. The smartphone-based map navigation offers access to several riding-relevant options without taking your hands off the handle bar while riding. With the Multi-Controller and Menu rocker button you can change the settings by going in Menu view to “Navigation”, press down in “Map view” and select “Settings”. Here you find “Route criteria” like in the app, and additionally “Route info” or further options. Under “Map View” you can choose different “Map Styles” or “Map orientation”, or check the boxes if you want the map to “Show Traffic” or “Auto Zoom”. The “Search” bar where you can put in addresses can only be found in the BMW Motorrad Connected app. On the bike you can change the active route guidance, or start a new route by selecting “New destination” in the “Navigation” menu. Here you find “Recent destinations”, “Favorites” and “POIs”. By tilting the Multi-Controller right you can select for instance “Recent destinations”, “Edit route guidance”, “Add stop" and “Start route guidance”. When in Map view, you can zoom by tilting left first and then by turning the Multi-Controller. Exit zoom by tilting right. Depending on your route, by tilting to the right you can select an “Alternative Route”, “Route preview”, “Repeat instruction” or “Skip next waypoint”. For safety reasons, not all features can be used while riding.
