I declare today the Day of Odessa food. Because this is a paradise for those who love seafood and all that is cooked in Odessa. An indispensable characteristic of such food is its freshness. If they bring you fried gobies, be sure - they swam in the sea a couple of hours ago. If they serve Black Sea shrimp, then by all means, an hour ago they were lying alive on Privoz. And so with everything - red mullet, mussels, sprat, anchovy ... If you are a gourmet, you can buy fresh shrimp. These translucent crustaceans are jumping with might and main on the counters of Privoz and are waiting to be dipped in salted, hot water. Naturally, it will not work to carry this delicate product somewhere. If you freeze, you will lose a special taste, and if you still decide to drag the shrimp alive, you risk ruining them completely. Although, according to the sellers, under certain conditions, the shrimp can live up to 2 days. The Black Sea shrimp is especially appreciated among gourmets and seafood lovers. These plain-looking crustaceans, pale yellow and gray in color, small - it would seem that there is nothing to eat, with long legs and whiskers, in fact, turn out to be the most delicious of the entire crustacean world. They are easy to prepare, juicy, with a pleasant taste and aroma.
Important! Black Sea shrimp are not grown artificially, they can be caught in abundance in the Black Sea. Shrimp fishing spots
Shrimps can be caught along the entire Black Sea coast of the Odessa region. Most often it will be the Black Sea crangon shrimp (Crangon), which loves a sandy or muddy bottom. Many people prefer to catch Black Sea shrimps in the resort villages of the Odessa region, from Sergeevka to Koblevo. Firstly, it is convenient to get to such places by public transport, good roads are laid. Secondly, a developed infrastructure - many hotels and camp sites offer to organize shrimp fishing, provide equipment and cook services, or allow you to cook shrimp yourself on the territory. Thirdly, it's nice to combine holidays at the resort and fishing, especially if you spend a weekend at sea with your family. Particularly noteworthy are the places where there are estuaries - Koblevo, Zatoka, Karolino-Bugaz, Sergeevka. Shrimp fishing in the estuary is different from the sea, but also interesting. The only thing worth paying attention to is the degree of salinity of the water in the estuary, shrimps choose more salty water.
By the way! If you catch shrimp with a trawl in the estuary, then periodically you need to recast the tackle, as the current changes.
Perfect time to fish for shrimp
In general, you can always catch shrimp: day and night, at any time of the year. However, you need to know a few rules:
in the summer during the spawning period (June 1 - August 31) it is forbidden to catch shrimp, especially in commercial quantities, it is possible with a small net (diameter up to 70 cm) and up to 1 kg of catch;
place of fishing, tackle and time of day are interconnected;
freshly caught shrimp in the heat can quickly deteriorate - you need to think about where to store them.
It is believed that most shrimp can be caught at night, for this they use a lantern - the crustaceans reach for the light and fall into the net. Most often, fishermen take a trawl - a special tackle, and go to sea on a boat, where they lower the anchor at a depth of several meters and start fishing. Fishing in this case promises to be excellent!
Black Sea shrimp: where to catch and how to cook
Shrimp can be caught in the morning and afternoon. A fisherman, or a visitor to rest in the Odessa region, or a local resident without special skills in catching fish and crayfish, picks up a long-handled net and enters the water about waist-deep. With light movements, the catcher methodically bypasses the bottom with a net, scooping up and draining water.
Black Sea shrimp: where to catch
You can use a large box on the ropes. If you put bait in it (preferably a piece of stale meat), the shrimp will fill themselves into a net.
Interesting! Lazy fishermen simply lower the bait trap into the water and wait for a while, the catch is guaranteed!
