God Doesn't Want the Perfect Catholic—He Wants This
What version of a Catholic does God want you to be?” This as I understand it isn’t about perfection or comparison—it’s about authenticity, faithfulness, and growing in love.
Drawing from Scripture, Church teaching, and spiritual tradition:
God wants you to be a Catholic who is:
1. Faithful in Relationship, not Just Religion
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
God desires your heart more than your habits. He wants a relationship—one that brings you to Mass, yes, but also to prayer, silence, and trust in Him daily. Not just a checkbox Catholic, but one in living communion.
2. Compassionate and Merciful
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:36)
God calls you to mirror His mercy. The version of you He wants brings comfort to the suffering, forgiveness to the broken, and warmth to the lonely. Like Christ, you’re meant to embody love in action.
3. Courageously Holy in a Modern World
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
You’re called to be different. Not perfect, but holy. God wants a Catholic who resists the noise of culture when it goes against truth—and speaks with love, lives with purity, and stands in integrity.
4. A Seeker and Grower
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” (Matthew 5:6)
God doesn’t need experts—He seeks disciples. He wants you to grow, question, read Scripture, learn the faith, and deepen your prayer life. You’re meant to be ever-transforming, like clay in His hands.
5. A Witness of Joy and Hope
“Always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in you.” (1 Peter 3:15)
God wants you to be a Catholic who radiates joy—not just solemn devotion, but real hope that inspires others. Your peace in suffering, your laughter in gratitude, and your light in darkness point to Him.
6. One Who Reflects Christ in Daily Life
“It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20)
More than anything, God desires that your life become a living icon of Jesus: gentle, humble, forgiving, courageous, prayerful, sacrificial. In your home, work, and relationships, He calls you to embody the Gospel.
My Final Thought:
God doesn’t want the “perfect” Catholic. He wants the “becoming” Catholic.
He wants the you that is honest, striving, healing, and willing to say yes again and again.
