iPadOS 26 finally turns the iPad into the device I always hoped it could be. Real floating windows, smarter multitasking, and a proper pointer make it feel like an actual productivity machine instead of a limited tablet. Everything stays where I put it, everything moves the way I expect, and for once, the system actually keeps up with me.
With the new menu bar, the Preview app, a much better Files system, background tasks, and local capture, the iPad finally feels mature. iPadOS 26 doesn’t just improve the iPad — it unlocks it.
