Lupus in Men: A Different Battle
Men suffering with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus are fighting a different battle. When I was diagnosed my Rheumatologist explained to me that men are the least likely demographic to have a Lupus diagnosis and when men have Lupus the symptoms tend to be more severe. Treatment of the disease can also prove to be more difficult for men. Everything seems to be exacerbated. But don’t give up hope, treatment is possible. A life free from many of the symptoms is possible. Many men live close to normal, healthy lives. Some day we may see advancements in men’s Lupus treatments, but for now all we can do is focus on being as healthy as possible, take our medication and hope for the best!
