In this stunning footage, a deer deliberately sheds its antlers to survive. Unlike the antlers of goats and rams, which are used for a year and become fused with the skull, deer shed their antlers each year after mating season. The antlers, which are used to attract females and fight other males, weaken with decreasing hormone levels and fall out with the onset of winter. This way, the deer not only stores energy for the winter but also sheds 9 kilograms of excess weight, making it easier to run and escape.
