Here's an impromptu country blues played on a c.1930 Columbia Banjolin.

Columbia instruments were made by Gretsch (in New York) in the 20's & 30's, and were sold through many different catalogs and in hundreds of small stores across the United States.

Work done on this instrument includes: cleaning and buffing the rim and tailpiece; cleaning and oiling the fretboard; adjusting and regluing the nut; repairing a crack in the headstock; and polishing, adjusting, and tightening (as much as possible :-) the tuners. I also set it up as a 4-string banjolin (as opposed to a banjo ukulele) with GHS ultra-light mandolin strings. Scale length is 13.25".

What a neat, old, little instrument!

Thanks for watching.
