This is my take on James Jamerson's warm up exercise published in the famous SITSOM* book celebrating Jamerson's life and music. I show the fingerings to play it, at the low end with as many open strings as possible, just how, I hope, Jamerson would have played it :-) I've not mastered the hook though, so play right-handed with two fingers, not one! Looking forward to hearing other people's versions. With practice (its in my routine) I hope to increase fluidity, speed and perfection.

If you're into bass and Jamerson you've likely got SITSOM, if not, you gotta get it. It's the classic, one-of-a-kind bass transcription book. Never again will there be one with so many famous and skilled bass players paying homage to another bass player. Jamerson really was unique and, as Anthony Jackson says, a genius.

SITSOM is "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" by Dr Licks and available from the usual stores.

Sound is a bit rubbish, sorry about that, it's my second video and a learning process for me. I separated the bass and click so if anyone wanted to hear the bass separately, they can.
