Packet Tracer is software developed by Cisco and widely used for teaching and learning computer networks. It is commonly used in technical schools and universities because it allows the simulation of a network environment (LAN and WAN) without the need for real physical equipment and devices—which require large budgets and very large laboratories.
It is a free computer program with a very simple setup and go. It is available for Windows, Linux, and OS X platforms.
