In 2025 (2025), we plan to embark on a road trip, driving around Thailand to various provinces. We'll focus on relaxing, visiting national parks, experiencing natural attractions, camping overnight in parks, and staying at beautiful accommodations with natural views. Our first stop will be Kanchanaburi Province.
For our first trip of the year, we plan to drive and sleep outdoors during the winter, focusing on visiting national parks. We'll camp overnight at seven national parks in Kanchanaburi Province. We'll also be adding our travel coordinates to our Passport to Thailand National Parks.
📍This is Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province.
Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park is the first national park on our trip. We started our drive from Kanchanaburi city, passing through Bo Ploi and Nong Prue districts. We stopped at the Huai Kraproi Reservoir, a royal initiative of King Rama IX to address water shortages during the dry season and flooding during the flood season. We then traveled to see the headwaters of Huai Kraproi, the first stream in the country, at Trai Trung Waterfall, the third level, in Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park. For this trip, we stayed in tents at Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park for three nights.
✨Park Admission Fee✨
2 Thai adults: 80 baht (40 baht per person)
1 vehicle: 30 baht
The cost of a single visit to the park is 110 baht. We visited twice on this trip, on January 9-11 and January 23, for a total of 220 baht.
✨Overnight Accommodation Fee✨
The park offers both bungalows and a camping area. We brought our own tents. A three-day stay costs 30 baht per person per day, totaling 180 baht.
✨ Food and Drink ✨
Regarding food, we mostly cooked our own meals. For those who are unable to prepare food on weekdays, you can purchase food from the a la carte restaurant at the park headquarters (open during business hours). On Saturdays and Sundays, there is a park convenience store and a coffee shop inside.
✨ Attractions within the park ✨
1. Choose from two nature trails:
: Route 1: Tham Than Lod Noi - Tham Than Lod Yai Nature Trail
Tham Than Lat Noi: Tham Than Lod Noi is the starting point of the Tham Than Lod Noi - Tham Than Lod Yai Nature Trail. You can explore the cave on your own within the park headquarters. The stream flows through it and flows to Huai Kraproi. Since the cave is illuminated at certain times, you must present your name before and after entering to verify information and provide assistance in case of emergency.
Trai Trung Waterfall: This three-tiered waterfall is part of the nature trail. Tham Than Lod Noi and Tham Than Lod Yai are important sources of the Huai Kraproi stream. You can climb up to see the first stream at the third level of the waterfall, which joins the Huai Kraproi Reservoir.
Tham Than Lod Yai: This large cave is accessible on foot and is the end of the Tham Than Lod Noi - Tham Than Lod Yai nature trail. While we visited the park, the trail was damaged and impassable, but you can drive around to the other side of the park. Since we didn't have much time on this trip, we just collected some information for a chance to visit again.
:: Route 2: Khao Kamphaeng Nature Trail
This is an 8-kilometer trek, taking two days and one night, with overnight stays. *A ranger is required. Contact the park office for assistance. The trail is open during the winter season. We didn't have time to prepare in advance, so we're saving this information for a future visit.
2. Waterfall Slide: This small waterfall is accessible by car. We visited in late winter, and the water level was low, so we couldn't slide down. If we visit again, we'll share some photos of the atmosphere.

✨Getting there:
From the city, you can head to Si Sawat District and reach Chalerm Rattanakosin Park by car. The road is paved all the way. For those coming from Srinakarin Dam National Park, you can also take the Huai Mae Khamint car ferry. (Phone number: 0861622964)
