Nexus was the hottest angle in wrestling for a minute there. Remember when Wade Barrett led the disgruntled NXT group to prominence in WWE?
The original plan for SummerSlam was to have the Nexus team defeat Team WWE led by John Cena, Chris Jericho, Edge, Bret Hart and others. At the last minute, plans were changed and John Cena ended up getting the decisive win.
Daniel Bryan would also make his WWE return this night but it wouldn't help even the score.
After the match, the Nexus faction was essentially over. The Corre would be assembled over on Smackdown but it never gained the same traction.
