How to turn on the NordVPN Kill Switch on Mac and choose which apps stay protected if the VPN drops.
This quick walkthrough shows exactly where to find the Kill Switch inside the NordVPN Mac app — click the profile icon, open Settings, then select Kill Switch. Unlike some other VPNs, the Mac version isn't a system-wide switch that's on by default, so you'll need to toggle it on yourself.
From there you add the specific apps you want covered — for example Google Chrome, Telegram, or a torrenting client — and only the apps on that list are protected. If the VPN connection ever drops, the Kill Switch stops those apps from transmitting any information by shutting them down until the connection is restored. You can add as many apps as you like, remove ones you no longer need, or toggle the whole feature off at any time.
By the end you'll understand how the Mac Kill Switch behaves differently from a full system-wide option and how to configure it for the apps that matter most to you. Helpful links are in the description, and if you have any questions, drop them in the comments below.
