In this video, I restored a 75-year-old Marx Lumar Automatic Scoop Power Shovel made in the USA.
About the restoration process:
This project truly pushed my limits, not only because it was heavily rusted, but also because the mechanism was broken and the tracks were missing. Along the way, I learned a lot, and I ended up designing the 11-tooth gear and the tracks myself to bring it back to life.
It was my first time working on an item like this, and I’ll admit, I almost gave up because of the tracks. My original plan was to create moulds and cast them, but after finishing the design, the CNC tool bit broke, ruining my last piece of material. Because of that, I decided to try TPU printing instead, and surprisingly, it turned out really well.
I kept pushing through, and in the end, I believe the result speaks for itself. This restoration took a lot of time, patience, and effort, but I’m really glad I didn’t give up on it.

My goal was to restore this Marx Lumar Power Shovel as accurately as possible and bring it back to fully working condition. I truly enjoyed the entire process, and at the end of the video, you can see a full demonstration of how it operates.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment, and I’ll gladly reply.
Cheers, Johnny
