JUGs, the JCP and Oracle vs Google
This is an open discussion between JUG leaders that are concerned about the Oracle vs Google rulings and repercussions. In this conversation, we'll talk about what was the ruling, the implications, the concerns that JUGs have, what the JCP has to do with it, and how this affects the community efforts like Adopt-a-JSR, Adopt-the-OpenJDK, the OpenJDK project and more.
This talk is not a "bash Oracle" nor a "bash Google" discussion. The two companies are technology giants, and are each defending their own commercial interests. But their actions impact our groups and our members, and the news impact Java developers worldwide. As JUG leaders, we need to be informed of what is going on, so we can speak frankly with our groups members.
