Tula Antiquities: Aleksin and Sorokina Mountain
For many years, archaeologists have been studying the most ancient monuments of the Tula region—fortified settlements whose ramparts conceal ancient cities, fortresses, and simply fortified settlements of ancient peoples.
There are more than 100 known fortified settlements in the Tula region, each of which poses many mysteries to archaeologists.
Scientists have attempted to unravel the mystery of three fortified settlements in Aleksin, one of the oldest towns in the Tula region. Alexey Vorontsov, PhD in history and academic secretary of the Kulikovo Field Museum-Reserve, explains whether they succeeded.
