Here I replace the front drive shaft on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The drive shaft on this Jeep Grand Cherokee has a double cardan joint and a CV joint. There are a few different styles of drive shafts so pay attention to the specifics.

The CV joint was blown out on this drive shaft because the 249 transfer case viscous coupler had gone out causing the drive shaft to bind up. The double cardan joint seemed to be in good condition, but the CV joint could not hold up to the strain.
The replacement was fairly easy. Simply unbolt the double cardan joint on the drive shaft near the transfer case. Then remove the bolts holding the CV joint to the front axle. Be sure the length of your replacement drive shaft is the same, and simply swap it in.
