Scarlet Badis (Dario dario) is a tropical freshwater fish from the family, Badidae. In the wild they inhabit the shallow streams of East India and are normally found amongst dense vegetation.
They are very common in small aquariums and are popular because of their bright orange colors. However it is only the males that are bright orange, females are gray and dull.
Scarlet Badis will hide and cower away from anything larger and more aggressive. Quick movements can scare the Badis and can make them refuse to come out of shelter to feed.
