APRA has confirmed the 3% serviceability buffer is to remain the same. meaning no free kick to home prices as rates continue to grind higher.
The statement published as part of an update on its macroprudential policy settings. The operative settings are: first a neutral level for the countercyclical capital buffer of 1.0 percent of risk weighted assets, providing a buffer in bank capital for stress if needed; and second a 3 per cent serviceability buffer to maintain prudent lending standards.
