November 4, 2021: The acute and chronic stresses associated with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can lead to lifelong physical and mental health problems and a shorter life span. The California Department of Public Health is encouraging health care providers to screen clients for ACES and related social determinants of health. Hear about how to do this in a school-based health center. Learn about trauma-informed screening approaches, using the PEARL screener to open up conversations with youth and families, serving special populations, mandated reporting, and confidential medical records.
