1. When exporting a video to use for an Instagram post the first step is to decide what aspect ratio you are going to use.
2. For traditional landscape format Instagram uses - 1080 x 608 in a 1.91 ratio.
3. For square video Instagram uses 1080 x 1080 pixels
4. And for the vertical video format, Instagram uses 1080 x 1350 pixels in a 4:5 ratio. This vertical format has become very popular as it takes up more space in a viewers feed to be more eye catching.
5. Depending on the size of the sequence you have used to edit you may need to duplicate and change the size your sequence in your desired ratio, and then resize and reframe the clips accordingly.
6.For the export settings Instagram prefers H.264 codec, set your frame to your chosen size, making sure you have selected square pixels and progressive scan.
7. The maximum frame Instagram will accept is 30 frames per second.
And a bitrate of 3.5mpbs second is recommended. For maximum quality you can consider exporting up to 8mpbs.
8. For audio Stereo AAC audio compression with a sample rate of 128kbps is preferred.
9. An Instagram post video can be a maximum of 60 seconds long and 4GB in size.
10. To post your video you will need to transfer it to your phone using email, Dropbox, Google drive or AirDrop if you are an Apple user.
