Learn how to draw three very different figure poses using the same simple approach.
In this drawing tutorial, we'll work with a figure walking, bending down to pick up a bag, and standing inside a train carriage.
Rather than getting caught up in anatomy and detail, I'll show you how I use the line of action, centreline and basic shapes to understand each pose and keep the drawing loose and natural.
In the final drawing, we'll also introduce some simple perspective to place the figure inside a train carriage, with the view through the window behind her.
The poses may be different, but the basic approach remains the same:
• Find the line of action
• Establish the centerline
• Look for the big shapes
• Keep your first lines loose
• Add detail only when you need it
Figure drawing doesn't have to be complicated. Learn to simplify what you see and build the drawing gradually.
