World Immunization Week
24th – 30th April

Immunization saves millions of lives and is widely recognized as one of the world’s most successful and cost-effective health interventions. Yet, there are more than 19 to 20 million children (and even more adults) in the world who are unvaccinated or under-vaccinated and are consequently at serious risk from several potentially fatal diseases.

World Immunization Week – celebrated in the last week of April each year – aims to highlight the collective action needed to ensure that every person is protected from vaccine-preventable diseases and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

Under this year’s theme – “The Big Catch-Up” – the World Health Organization (WHO) is working with global, regional, and local partners to support countries to get back on track and ensure that more people are protected from preventable diseases. Action is needed now to catch-up the millions of children who missed out on vaccines during the pandemic, restore essential immunization coverage to at least 2019 levels and strengthen primary health care to deliver immunization to persons of all ages.

With decades of experience from working to eradicate polio, members of the Rotary family can play a key role in publicizing the power of vaccines. World Immunization Week, 24-30 April, gives Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members an opportunity to raise awareness of the part that vaccines play in saving lives — as well as of the critical need to continue supporting global polio vaccination for children and other life-saving vaccines for all.
The WIW2023 Campaign Competition For Rotary And Rotaract Clubs In District 7030

We know clubs and members are asked to do many things in recognition of special occasions throughout the Rotary year – World Polio Day, Foundation Month, Alumni Week, etc. – and many of you do so brilliantly without any expectations nor seeking any recognition for your efforts.

For World Immunization Week this year, however, District 7030 wants to not only acknowledge clubs for their good work towards this endeavor, but also, generate a health spirit of competition and reward clubs for their commitment and achievement…so we are introducing the World Immunization Week 2023 Campaign Competition for Rotary and Rotaract clubs in District 7030!

By participating in the competition, your club can not only help spread the word about the importance of vaccines, but also, be recognized and rewarded.

Any questions or concerns regarding the competition may be sent to [email protected]

Let's all do our part as members of the Rotary family and demonstrate our commitment to and support of one of our major areas of focus – Disease Prevention and Treatment – as we come together and embody the power of Rotary, discover inventive ways to engage and adapt and become better people of action.
