I considered qualities such as comfort, handling, reliability, maintenance costs, design, and, this time, safety. I averaged my ratings and added in the opinions of owners and their overall assessments to make the video as objective as possible. Tips for choosing cars in this price range:
Watch for odometer rollbacks. This is easily revealed by scuffs on the steering wheel, a dirty interior, worn plastic, and poor quality leather. There's also a downside: if everything is perfectly clean, without scuffs or cracks, like a showroom car, it means everything has been refinished and the mileage has almost 100% exceeded 400,000 km.
Pay close attention to the automatic transmission, inquire about its repairs and oil changes; it's best to buy a refurbished one;
Listen to the engine, carefully listen to every knock and ding; it's advisable to have someone knowledgeable about cars with you. Pay attention to smooth operation and overheating during prolonged idling.
Check the body for corrosion, be sure to inspect the underbody and the area where water drains during rain, inquire about galvanization and repainting;
Check the chassis, because in the sub-8,000 class of cars, it must be in excellent condition, otherwise it will suck your money away;
Ideally, don't worry about all this, but just take it to a service station and let the professionals evaluate it, because even a small detail can lead to major investments in the future.
